The Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri) is a freshwater fish that is commonly kept in aquariums. They have a distinctive appearance, with a long and slender body covered in small scales, and a sucker mouth. They are typically brown or black in color with a white underbelly. Chinese algae eaters prefer aquariums with plenty of hiding places and a sandy substrate. They are active and can be aggressive, especially towards other bottom-dwelling fish. As their name suggests, they are primarily herbivorous and will help keep aquariums clean by consuming algae. However, they may also eat other types of food if algae is scarce.
