Amano shrimp (Caridina multidentata) are a popular species of freshwater shrimp in the aquarium hobby. Originally from Japan, they are widely distributed and valued for their algae-eating capabilities and peaceful nature. 

Amano shrimp have a slender body with a translucent appearance and long, graceful antennae. They are known for their efficient algae-eating abilities and are often sought after for their role in natural aquarium algae control. Amano shrimp can consume various types of algae, including common nuisance algae like green spot algae and hair algae.
